Alastair Blanshard leads the sustainable aviation team at ICF, supporting companies and governments across the global industry to reduce the environmental impact from aviation.
He brings a strategic understanding of the challenges and opportunities to decarbonise aviation, and how to ensure projects can be structured to have a greater impact than just the sum of parts. His focus is on the development of decarbonisation strategies, policies and working alongside financiers to assess investments in SAF. In recent projects, Alastair has worked with airlines, governments, and producers in the UK, US, Europe, Ethiopia, Japan, UAE, Kazakhstan, Australia, and LATAM to accelerate their use of SAF, allowing him to bring a comprehensive understanding of the global dynamics for the evolving feedstocks, technologies, and policies.
Through project work and completion of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program, he has a thorough understanding of the financial implications of sustainability initiatives, supported with technical expertise as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a Masters in Aeronautical Engineering (MEng).
