Borja Dosal Roiz obtained a Business Management university degree from the University of Cadiz (Spain) in 2002, after not giving up studying he achieved the Aeronautical Engineer university degree from the Catalonian University of Polytechnics (Spain) in 2007, specializing in Air Navigation. He started his professional career in 2007 working for Iberia Airlines in Madrid, this was followed by his experience in Spanair Airlines (Barcelona) and British Airways (London) always holding the position of CAMO Avionics Engineer building up experience in both Airbus and Boeing fleets. In addition, he accumulated the role of responsible for the maintenance program of TAP ‘s single aisle (SA) fleet and was also appointed as the SA ISC TAP ‘s representative. Currently Joel manages a small team of people dedicated to Innovation, whose focus is on establishing interfaces with technological partners, external to TAP, to jointly develop new solutions for the MRO and its parent airline. From KLM he is also leading the development of PROGNOS. PROGNOS is the application developed by Air France Industries and KLM Engineering & Maintenance that allows implementation of predictive maintenance practices in the operation of Air France and KLM, thereby optimizing maintenance decision making, reduction of operational disturbances and prevention of high repair cost.

His team has engaged in analysing flight data and maintenance data to predict significant failures which occur on the aircraft using big-data analysis. This work has successfully improved JAL's predictive maintenance program over the past three years. Takemura and his team started involving JAL’s component shop technicians in order to develop prognostic discovery using aircraft sensor data and their maintenance expertise, with the goal of leading the aviation industry in predictive maintenance.
