The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing some 290 airlines and 82% of global air traffic. IATA supports many areas of aviation activity and helps formulate industry policy on critical aviation issues to drive a safe, secure, and sustainable industry. In 2018, IATA’s members carried 2.9 billion passengers and 55 million tonnes of freight globally.

IATA has a presence in 56 cities in 53 countries globally and is governed by a Board of Governors made of airline members.
A guiding concept of IATA’s structure is “Global Development, Regional Delivery”, where the Head Office divisions drive the development of global standards, systems and advocacy positions, while the regional and country offices, including a UK Office, are responsible for implementation. IATA’s senior management, formed of regional and subject matter experts, sets the strategic direction of IATA under the leadership of IATA’s Director General & CEO, Alexandre de Juniac.
